Staff Bios

Cathy Prause, Legal Assistant

Cathy Prause graduated from Cleveland State University where she completed a Bachelor of Business Administration degree. Cathy has been with the law firm for 19 years and, as Office Manager, Cathy addresses issues and concerns of the office as well as day to day office procurement. Her concentration lies with Social Security claims and personal injury matters. Attendance at National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) Seminars has furthered her knowledge of the social security process. She is actively involved with her church and volunteers with the Hospice of the Western Reserve. She and her husband, Joe, raised three children in Mentor, Ohio where they were involved in many sports throughout the year. She and her husband printed the monthly newsletter for the Mentor Soccer Club for many years while their children were actively involved with the program and she also enjoyed volunteering at her children’s elementary school. They are the proud grandparents of two lovely granddaughters and when not spending time with them, Cathy enjoys traveling and reading.

Deanna Bateman, Legal Assistant 

Deanna is a 1989 graduate of Willoughby South High School and a 1992 graduate of the University of Toledo in Paralegal studies. She has eight years of legal experience. She assists the attorneys by preparing cases for important deadlines in the areas of Social Security, Personal Injury, Juvenile, Traffic, and Domestic Relations. She also communicates with the clients for the duration of their case in preparing for their upcoming court dates and hearings. She is also responsible for scheduling with the court all future court dates for the cases she has been assigned to assist the Attorney. She resides in Lake County with her husband and children. She enjoys spending time with her family including watching her childrens’ sport activities.

Darlene R. Judd, Legal Assistant

Darlene attended the American Institute of Paralegal Studies at Notre Dame College in Euclid, Ohio. She was awarded the Certificate of Highest Honors for Scholarly Distinction and has been a Notary Public in and for Geauga County since 1995.

She has 35 years of experience in Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, Wrongful Death, Civil Litigation, Estate Administration, Family Law and Criminal Law. Her day is spent assisting the attorneys in the firm in their preparation of legal documents, including, but not limited to, complaints, motions, discovery documents, deeds, wills, and numerous other pleadings and documents. In addition, she enjoys the numerous different personalities of each and every client she comes in contact with and is available throughout the day by phone and/or by email.

Darlene is a lifetime resident of Geauga County and is the proud mother of three. She is involved in her community and served as Treasurer of a Parent Teacher Organization for three years and Treasurer of her community baseball league for nine years. She enjoys time spent at home with her family, cooking and baking and is an avid baseball fan.

Pamela Schafer-Jones, Legal Assistant 

Pamela received her Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies from Lakeland Community College and is proud of this accomplishment as she did so while working full time and raising her family. She is a member of the Lake County Bar Association’s Paralegal Association and is a Notary Public in Lake County. She has been with the firm since 2010. Pam’s contributions to the firm are primarily in the areas of Bankruptcy and Social Security. She is a knowledgeable and efficient point of contact for our clients.

Pam has been a lifelong resident of Lake County, graduating from Mentor High School.  She currently resides in Madison, Ohio with her husband Rob and two children.  She is very involved in her daughter’s girl scout troop, as a leader and has helped orchestrate service unit events. She enjoys watching her son play in various sports and watching her daughter’s dance recitals.  In addition to her children’s activities, she volunteers her time at her church and enjoys being involved in league bowling and body sculpting and has a goal of running a 5k in the near future.   She loves baking and frequently contributes to the office’s pastry addiction with her homemade goodies.

Diane Briskey, Legal Assistant

Diane Briskey has over 40 years of experience as a legal assistant. She began her career in the legal department of Union Savings Bank, then went to work for a private law firm and has worked in the general practice of law ever since. Diane has been with the firm for 11 years and her areas of concentration are in Probate, Domestic Relations, Personal Injury, Civil litigation and Social Security disability claims. She attended a seminar presented by the National Organization of Social Security Claimants’ Representatives (NOSSCR) which provided her with further knowledge of processing social security disability claims. She resides in Concord Township, Ohio with her husband Bradley where they raised three children and have six grandchildren. In her spare time, Diane enjoys traveling, gardening, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
